You meet homeless people all the time, that is if you live in a slightly bigger city. The sight of them isn't very uplifting, sometimes it's even frightening. But that's just a superficial view that we would like to change at least a little bit. Association Mezi4stěny – PomocPotřebným was founded in early 2020. Originally there were a few of us working in non-profits for the homeless. We started on a volunteer basis with field work and thought about the possibilities of helping and working with and for them. This eventually led to the development of several projects in 2022 that we have been working on ever since. We think that the basis of helping people on the street is just working on the street, in other words in the field. This is where most of the life of those who need help takes place. And that is where we get to know them differently than, for example, in contact centres, dormitories or shelters, where only those who decide to seek help come.
