Support "Stand by you" project for support and integration of young Ukrainians

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (DofE) is the world's leading non-formal education and learning programme, founded 66 years ago by Prince Philip. It is open to all young people aged between 13 and 24. Through the DofE, participants strengthen their stamina, independence, diligence, skills, physical fitness, responsibility and develop character. Graduates of the programme are awarded an internationally recognised certificate that will help them, for example, in entrance exams and interviews.

Get involved in our CSR activity and support the young generation

DofE is committed to address the development of every young person without the difference. The programme teaches young people to be responsible. They learn to help other people and protect the world around them. They find what the DofE founder Kurt Hahn lacked in youth and what is so important nowadays: responsibility and solidarity

Because of the war in Ukraine, we have mobilised our network of 600 schools, 2,900 fully trained adult volunteers and more than 10,000 young participants in Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. We will do what we do best, engaging young people in each country, motivate them to continue their education, stay off the streets and enable them to get prepared for work and for life after war.

  • Our participants are already volunteering while helping with material support, fundraising efforts, helping in refugee receptions centres and helping with transaction and interpretation;
  • Our volunteers and participants will ensure that as many young Ukrainians as possible get integrated into our communities;
  • Our participants will start a ‘buddy’ guidance program supporting young Ukrainians on a peer-to-peer basis, providing initial support and social network helping them to get integrated into local education and our communities;
  • The ‘buddy’ program will then continue beyond initial integration, with one participant supporting at least two Ukrainian peers over the coming months, possibly longer.
In order to add our hand to the work and help where it is currently needed most, we need your help. By purchasing a 10 000 CZK tree in our Prince Phillip Avenue which will be planted on the 23rd April 2022 in Vestec near Prague, you will support young Ukrainians and their integration into Czech society.  The tree will be marked by your name. The funds raised will be used, among other things, to create an integration "buddy program" in which we will connect Ukrainian children with our DofE participants.
