donors from the Czech Republic, it runs a public canteen where 166 of the poorest people,
mostly women and children, receive fresh and hot food on everyday basis. In such an
environment, Pomůžu jak můžu provides jobs for 5 people who can then take care of their
families with dignity and respect. The on-site project is managed by Sabina Addailami with
Czech-Yemeni roots. Administratively the aid is handled by the team in Ostrava in their
spare time, without any remuneration for the task they carry out on a regular basis. Apart
from struggling with food shortages and lack thereof, more than 5 million of Yemeni
children have no access to education (as of 2015). They have neither the means nor the
strength to go to school. However, if they do have the opportunity to go to school, they
are often at risk of fainting from hunger. To ensure that such conditions may change in the
future, in September, the organization implemented the system of providing snacks for
500 girls at the Furat public school in Sanaa.
The war in Yemen has been raging since 2015. According to the UN, it is the worlds worst humanitarian disaster since 1945. According to the international organization, 18 million people in Yemen are suffering from hunger. The brief ceasefire of the past six months and an attempt at peace collapsed again in September 2022.
