Thanks to the support of the City of Pilsen, the Pilsen Region and an approved subsidy from the Ministry of Education, we now have a unique chance to build a new Scout education centre and international Scout base on the outskirts of Pilsen. We have 85% of the funding at the moment. The project costs are calculated 25.8 million CZK and we need to raise 3.8 million CZK by June 2025.
By building a new base, we will gain the long missing suitable facilities for informal education. We will also ensure hygiene standards for the current scout clubhouses, which do not currently have these facilities in a suitable condition.
To keep the place pulsating with energy throughout the day, we plan to hold lectures or promote culture by welcoming an amateur theatre. At the weekend, we are happy to provide facilities for educational courses and accommodation for visitors both from the Czech Republic and from abroad.
We're going to tell you a short story
We're going to tell you a short story
There was once an old, abandoned building in the location called České údolí (Czech Valley) in Pilsen. It stood there for many years, decaying and decaying. Nobody moved into it because it was uninhabitable. The water didn't run in the building and you wouldn't even find flush toilets there. It was just a shade structure waiting for better times.
But one day something incredible happened. The Střela Scout Group took over the building in 2003. They decided to take care of the building and slowly turn it into a place where girls and boys could gather for their scout meetings.
So the volunteer scout leaders rolled up their sleeves and got to work.
They cleaned, secured, and maintained the building so that it wouldn't fall into complete disrepair until it would be clear what should follow. Leaders often held roundtable discussions about next steps. Time passed, and over the years they were able to restore the sewer connection, secure running water, and reconnect the container with the sanitary facilities so that there was no need to go to the dry toilets.

The number of members of the group kept growing and so the idea was born that a scout education centre and an international base could be established in the location. The Scout Education Centre could serve as a place to meet, learn and have fun. This would give the scouts enough space for their events and courses. And when guests from distant countries would arrive, they could be adequately accommodated.
The round of preparations in the form of creating construction documentation, securing building permits, raising funds and more has been in full swing. Although it was and is often challenging, the leaders knew and know that it is worth it. They are helping not only themselves, but future generations of Scouts. During the preparation process, it was discovered that the building could no longer be saved and renovated and would need more intervention. In early 2024, the leaders turned the site over to the selected building contractor. The excavators and construction men got to work, and passersby look on curiously at the growing structure. And so a new story begins to be written in České údolí (Czech Valley). But how will it end? That's up to you.
With humility and gratitude, we turn to you for financial support. If you are able to help us financially, we would be very grateful. Every donation, big or small, will bring us closer to fulfilling our dream of the scout base.
Many thanks in advance to everyone who will help us reach our goal by supporting us financially or sharing this information.
My tomu věříme!
Mám na to místo nádherné vzpomínky. Držím palce.
Ten barák si pamatuju z devadesátek, když jsme z Českého údolí vyráželi na Evropské skautské jamboree. Držím palce, ať brzy slouží rostoucímu plzeňskému skautingu!
Držíme palce!
