About the 420PEOPLE dance company
Václav Kuneš and Nataša Novotná founded the contemporary dance company 420PEOPLE at the turn of 2007 and 2008 when they had returned from their engagement with one of the world’s most renowned dance theatre companies - Jiří Kylián’s Nederlands Dans Theater. 420PEOPLE, currently celebrating its 16 th anniversary on the Czech and international dance and theatre scene, was born out of a shared vision to create their own contemporary dance company in Prague.
420PEOPLE is not just a contemporary dance company; it’s also a brand. We introduce a unique vocabulary of contemporary dance to the audience through performances and original choreographies at a modern, interpretive and professional level.
The company is known for its originality and the memorable experiences it offers, not just on the theatre stage but also in its own space, Studio Maiselovka.
We strive to engage our audience in a non-traditional dialogue, using workshops, online projects, discussions, dance movies, screenings, and other activities.
Besides our choreographic creation, to which we have devoted the past ten years, we regularly collaborate with world-renowned artists, among whom Jiří Kylián, Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, Ann Van den Broek,Jo Strømgren and, most recently, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
