Floods have hit the Czech Republic, putting some of our services at risk. Several have already been evacuated.

Currently, the clearing of affected areas, cleaning, and drying of buildings is underway. The most impacted area is the city of Krnov, where the Salvation Army operates two shelters, a night shelter, a day center for homeless people, a center for children and youth, as well as a corps and community center — all of these buildings were submerged two meters underwater.

Rescue: If you see a homeless person in poor health condition or in danger, call the emergency services immediately.

Inform: Homeless people often lack access to up-to-date information. Let them know what is happening and where they can seek help. Also, inform them of weather updates and instructions from authorities.

We are closely monitoring the flood situation in the areas where our services operate. Wherever possible, we are adjusting our operations to ensure sufficient capacity for homeless people and other providers affected by the floods. We are also arranging for staff replacements from other cities to cover employees affected by the flooding.
