The cornerstone for the project was our enthusiasm.
Our guinean coordinator Abdoulaye decided to start building thirteen (!) new classrooms in Dubreka in the district of Khorira, not far from the city Conakry. “The idea of building the school right here has been on my mind for five years now. Every time I was passing through Dubreka I saw many uncared-for children playing in the streets during the day. When I had asked them why they were not at school, they told me that it was too far for them and besides their parents do not have the money for education.” says Abdoulaye. And so he bought a patch of land, prepared a construction plan, put together all of his savings, bought materials and with a group of enthusiastic friends began the construction. The new school will be part of a program “Send a kid to school” and will carry the name of Thomas Sankara.

Thus far, Abdoulaye has managed to obtain roughly half of the money for the building that will serve as a nursery school, an elementary school, and a high school. On the solid foundations the undividual brick facilities are starting to grow but the second half of the funds is yet to be collected for their completion and the furnishings. 

We believe that thanks to Your help as well we shall manage to get the children from the streets to where they belong - to school.
