We use the martial art of Aikido as a tool to prepare young people for life, empowering them to face it in their own unique way.
- We help young people grow and develop essential life skills.
- We promote a healthy lifestyle and education.
- We create a safe environment filled with engaging challenges.
- Together, we build a community based on mutual support and responsibility.
Curious how we do it?
Some of the kids who started training with us 10 years ago have gradually worked their way through children’s and youth groups. Today, they are young adults with black belts, leading children’s training sessions. Even during Covid, we worked systematically with them—so, paradoxically, our club grew stronger during the lockdowns.
At our club, we create a space where young people can freely grow in all aspects of life. Through Aikido, they take step-by-step ownership of their lives. We aim to inspire a new generation that will carry Aikido, our society, and the entire world towards a better future.
Will you support us in this mission? The target amount is 8,000 EUR and the fundraising ends on 31 December 2024.
Our work draws on these cornerstones:
- Movement, Engagement, Health – Regular and diverse training is the key to progress in Aikido and the secret to a healthy, active life. We work with the concept of Physical Literacy, offering young people not only the joy of movement but also modern knowledge about physical activity and motivation for lifelong training.
- Outlook – We open up horizons in Aikido, in life, and in the world. We invite remarkable international teachers to Prague and travel across Europe to attend seminars and visit inspiring clubs. But it’s not just about Aikido—exploring other cultures, volunteering on farms, watching meaningful films, attending lectures, or visiting galleries also helps enrich understanding.
- Responsibility – Even the youngest children are encouraged to help one another. Teenagers often assist with organizing events and children’s training sessions. And if they enjoy it, they can become young teachers by completing coaching courses under the supervision of experienced instructors. Over time, these young teachers take on responsibility for their own group of children.
Klára (18 years old, children’s teacher) wrote this about one of our study trips:
"The trip to Sweden left me with strong emotions, new insights, and most importantly, I learned so many new things in just nine days. I realized there are infinite ways to practice Aikido and endless possibilities for where to start. Training was full of fun and laughter, and I had plenty of 'aha' moments with most of the new people I practiced with. That’s probably the best takeaway from the whole trip—having the chance to train with different people from various dojos and being able to incorporate some of the experiences from children’s classes into my own teaching sessions. I’m also incredibly grateful for deepening the bonds with our Vinohrady crew and for another adventure that we can bring back and apply to our Aikido practice."
All of this costs money: training camps, funding coaching education, trips abroad, and reduced seminar fees for students...
In 2024, these costs come to approximately 8,000 EUR, and this does not include the volunteer work of mentors and other adults. None of this is paid for through membership fees, which only cover regular training sessions.
Please consider making a one-off contribution or a smaller regular donation. By doing so, you can become a patron of our young Aikidoka and support their growth.
We’ll gladly provide a donation receipt for tax purposes at the end of the year.
Thank you for your support! Every single contribution, however small, helps us!
P.S. You’re right—this appeal doesn’t carry the urgency of a tornado or a war. Our vision and work are long-term, and the results take time to show. In some countries (like Sweden…), these initiatives are funded by the state. In Czechia, we are forced to find different resources. For example, Harvard University covers 44% of its costs through donations from graduates and individual donors… maybe we can achieve something similar. Thank you for sharing this journey with us!
Aikido Praha Vinohrady has around 240 members, half of whom are children and youth. Over the course of our 15-year existence, thousands of people have participated in our training sessions. In addition to regular classes, we organize 10 major events each year—many of them international—catering to various age groups.
