Meals in pre-school usually cost approximately 40 EUR per month, which equals to rougly 2 EUR per day. This seemingly negligable cost often stands in a way of regular pre-school attendance for children who grow up in adverse environment. Mrs. Ivana who has been our client for two years is experiencing this situation first hand:
„My daughters' father had left us few years ago and we have been living by ourselves since then. I've been getting parental allowance for a while now and I took up a part time job, however it's still not enough. When my rent is due, I end up with so little money it won't cover up my daughters' pre-school meals.“
Unfortunately, Ivana is not the only one who deals with this situation. More than third of all single-parent families and one in ten of two-parent families are at risk of poverty. Parents of these families often postpone the start of preschool education for their children, even though it is apparent, that participation in preschool education by the age of three increases the odds of completing studies and landing jobs.
We support our clients in transition from home care to preschool, we accompany them while getting used to new arrangements and help them find their way in the whole process of signing up children for preschool.
However there is one thing we are not able to help them with ourselves and that is paying for children lunches. That is why we turn to you for help. This year, we are raising 2 000 EUR to pay for 5 children's meals in preschool for the whole school year.
To reach this goal, all we need is to find 20 donors who will donate 10 EUR each month. Our clients will nevertheless appreciate any form of support.
