The shelter is in survival mode π we need your help π
Panleukopenia hit us really hard π firstly Windy Wendy passed away and Bella and Bobby are still fighting against this illness.π€
Unfortunately we had people here who petted Windy Wendy (she was carrying the disease) and then petted the cats in the quarantine room. Despite our rules it happened.π We had lately lots of volunteer requests, but now you know why our shelter is currently in lockdown mode!!
Bella and Bobby were just about to pass their quarantine when this happened. Panleukopenia hit Bobby really hard, we thought he was going to die, this poor boy was very very sick!!π« For over 8 days we had to take Bobby every single day back and forth to the vet, he needed life saving IV infusions and other medication! About 3 days later his sister Bella stopped eating.πΏ
It takes incredible strength and effort to be able to fight this disease! The regular daily work in an animal shelter pushes us sometimes to our limits, but when something like this happens, everything just gets out of balance! A successful fight against Panleukopenia involves daily early morning and late afternoon drives to the vet, it takes a huge amount of foot covers, gloves and change of clothes, change of car seat covers, disinfecting and cleaning. We can't even describe how exhausted we are right now!π₯΅
... but the effort was worth it, Bella and Bobby started eating and both are feeling much better.π€ Both kittens still need some time to recover, but we are confident that Bella and Bobby are going to survive!
In addition to the enormous amount of work, Panleukopenia also entails enormous costs. We know that times are really hard at the moment, because we are hardly getting any donations at all, but we are begging for your help!π Β
Please help us to cover the costs for our successful fight against this disease!ππ»
