After a successful fundraiser we organised at the end of August, Lele had her surgery on the 11th of September. Since her femur was not straight, her patella was not falling into the place correctly. That caused her pain and scared tissue. During the surgery femur was straightened with the help of plate and bolts. We were all very optimistic this will help her and then we can continue with the treatment of the second back leg.

She has been crated for 6 weeks to make sure everything heals correctly. The only time she was released was for sessions of cuddling with her family.

Fast forward to last week... Lele had her check up to see if everything healed correctly and how she is using her paw. Unfortunately, these were not the news we hoped for.

Even though her family did everything to help her heal well and the vet managed to completely straighten her leg during the surgery in September, she is not able to use her knee. This means Lele will need another surgery. This time she will receive a prosthetic knee. Unfortunately that means that until the surgery she needs to stay crated and after the surgery the recovery time will be even longer But we really need to save her knee, since later her second back leg will also need treatment, which also means it is not strong enough to support the weight by itself.
