The Angel Camp is organized for the children of prisoners by the International Prison Community, where I am the Vice-Chairman of the Council. I also participated in the camp in 2019 and it is an unforgettable experience for me. Why?
Have you ever experienced a feeling of rejection? That emptiness, pain and hopelessness in your heart, when the world seems to you a dark place with no chance of the future, when you feel lonely and lost like a castaway on the ocean with no chance of salvation? ... I hope not. But these children experience this feeling twice: for the first time in a broken family environment, when they are separated from one or both of their parents and often live in foster care, and the family - though they would like to - cannot provide a basic sense of acceptance and security. For the second time, the environment of the surrounding society - in kindergarten, school - often gives them the seal of an outcast. At our camp, they will experience a lot of fun with us, the joy that no one is judging them and condemning us to take them as children are. And our help is not limited to the time frame of the camp ... we are in contact with the children and their families all year round and we try to help them solve daily problems: relationally and financially. Isn't that great?

Angel Camp is a summer camp for 65 children who have mom or dad in prison. We want these children to be able to spend a week in a safe environment with the background of experts and to be able to spend time with friends and volunteer who understand them and who do not condemn them. Klárka and Honzík have their father in prison. They did nothing themselves, they still bear the punishment. Their mother has two jobs, she pays off her debts for her husband, and she no longer has the money to give the children summer camp during the holidays, so she spends her holidays at home in a panel apartment in a housing estate.
Angel Camp is a place where the children of imprisoned parents can be "children again". Playing sports, having fun, playing games or sharing your worries in a safe environment where no one condemns them and no one do not laugh them because they have a parent in crime.

The cost per week for one child is CZK 4,200.
The total amount for 65 children is CZK 273,000.

Klárka's and Honzík's dad is in prison. They didn't do anything bad themselves, yet they are being punished. Their mum has 2 jobs, she's paying off her husband's debts, she can't afford a summer camp for her kids and so they spend holidays in an apartment at a panel housing development.
