"For 75 years, it has been promoting human dignity and responding immediately to crises and humanitarian disasters. It helps people at risk of hunger, poverty, armed conflict, and climate change. It also implements long-term development programs that lead to the self -sufficiency of local communities. It focuses mainly on women and girls. They see their development as a path to peace, higher education for families, and the overall prosperity of wider communities. "
The brutal war in Yemen has been going on for 10 years. Tens of thousands of civilians have lost their lives as a result of airstrikes and attacks. However, the indirect effects of the war are now reaching far greater proportions.
The country's economy continues to collapse and the government has long failed to provide food for the country's population. Children are the most vulnerable to the crisis, with more than 2.2 million now on the brink of critical malnutrition (20% more than in 2023).
The never-ending stress and the ever-present danger of death also fundamentally affects the psychological state of Yemen's population, including the little ones.
CARE has been providing long-term assistance in 14 Yemeni governorates. Join us!
