Ukraine is facing a third winter of war. The Russian aggressor is targeting the energy infrastructure and more than 70 % of Ukraine's thermal production capacities are occupied or damaged. This winter may thus be the worst that Ukraine will experience from 2022. Defense units, hospitals and the civilian population will face power outages. Please, let's persevere in support and give warmth and light to Ukraine.
We have been buying protective and medical equipment for almost three years and are doing everything to ensure that it reaches Ukraine as quickly as possible where it is needed. Thousands of vests and helmets from us are used by defenders on the front line, tons of medical equipment save lives. Now we want to deliver 107 generators to Ukraine, which will help bridge the power grid outages.
Almost three years have already passed since the beginning of the war. The solidarity felt and expressed by the Czech society gradually weakens and gives way to fatigue and resignation. But Ukraine and its defenders are still resisting. They defend their land with a gun in their hand and give their lives for it. Our own prosperity depends on their victory. Let's help Ukraine in its difficult hour and provide it with warmth and light.

100 small generators with an output of 3.5 kW each for CZK 6 072

  •  In the event of a power outage, it will provide heat and light for the team of defenders in the trenches
5 medium generators with an output of 10 kW at 40,137 CZK

  •  In the event of a power outage, it will provide heat and light for the one-bed ward of the field hospital
2 large generators with an output of 50 kW at 345,520 CZK

  •  In the event of a power outage, it will provide heat and light for one large school facility.
Heaters       approx. 270 000 Kč
Logistics, customs clearance, transport to Ukraine     approx. 225 000 Kč

We cooperate with the humanitarian organization Koridor UA on the logistics and transport of generators. Koridor UA has been helping in Ukraine, as has Paměť národa since the beginning of the conflict, and over the past two years has built an extensive logistics network and exported over 1,000 tons of humanitarian supplies.

Warmth for children
We will deliver the first of the large generators to the school facility in Kryve Roh, where 170 children with hearing impairments and severe speech disorders learn and live. Another one will be delivered to the Rehabilitation Center "Pravo vibora" for children with disabilities in Kharkiv.

Since 2022, Russia has been targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure in its attacks and is trying to destabilize the electricity system by knocking out large coal and gas generating units as well as key parts of the transmission system. Before the invasion began in 2022, nuclear plants produced half of the country's electricity, followed by coal plants with 23 percent and gas plants with nine percent. At the end of May this year, approximately 70 percent of Ukraine's thermal generation capacity was either seized or damaged by the Russians, according to data from the International Energy Agency. The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which produced around a quarter of Ukraine's electricity supply before 2022, is under Russian control.

According to President Vladimir Zelensky, Moscow wants to terrorize millions of civilians. "Ordinary families - women and children. Ordinary cities and ordinary villages. Putin wants to leave them in the dark and cold this winter and force Ukraine to suffer and surrender," he described in one of his speeches.

Attacks on energy infrastructure have many consequences - from the interruption of water and heat supplies to further blows to the country's already crippled economy. The lack of heat and light has a huge negative effect on the psyche of both soldiers and civilians.

The 107 generators that we plan to deliver to Ukraine will not only supply electricity, but also show the defenders that they are not alone and that we are still standing by them. Let us show that we are not indifferent and that we will persist in our support for Ukraine.

POST BELLUM
Ukraine is bleeding. We do not want to just passively watch the injustice and aggression our friends face because they choose to share the values of freedom and democracy with us. For almost three years now, we have been buying protective and medical equipment and taking it to Ukraine as quickly as possible and where it is most needed. Vests and helmets from us are used by defenders on the front line, many tons of medical equipment save lives. We have supplied fire and ambulance vehicles, drones or optical equipment. Ukraine is facing a second winter of war. The Russian aggressor is targeting the energy infrastructure and more than 70% of Ukraine's thermal production capacities are either occupied or damaged. Defense forces, hospitals and the civilian population may face power outages. Let´s give give warmth and light to Ukraine.

The important things do not change with the times. Whether it’s the stories from the times we ourselves faced war and totalitarianism or the ones happening right now just a few hundred kilometres away from us, they are connected by the longing for freedom, safety, and one’s home. Our own experience with war and totalitarianism in the 20th century makes us obligated to help others.

In 2019, the non-profit organisation Post Bellum set up an office in Lviv with the goal of filming the witness accounts for the Paměť národa archive. Our colleagues in Ukraine recorded dozens of stories mostly from survivors of Stalinist repressions, dissidents, and political prisoners. After the outbreak of the war, they asked for our help. We could not decline. Thanks to your support, we have supplied the defenders of Ukraine with thousands of bulletproof vests and helmets, tonnes of medical equipment and optical devices as well as fully equipped ambulances and fire trucks. Dozens of human lives have verifiably been saved thanks to this. All the aid provided has been non-lethal in nature.

All materials needed have been consulted with experts from the Army of the Czech Republic. The recipients of our aid are predominantly frontline fighters, members of special forces units. The assistance is implemented through the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic. Representatives of the Czech Embassy in Kyiv then oversee the correct use and distribution of the material to those in need.

In cooperation with the Donio portal and, above all, six thousand generous donors, we managed to collect funds for equipment of two field hospitals that play a vital role in saving the lives of wounded soldiers. We have been delivering the material on an ongoing basis and the vast majority are already serving in hospitals. The remaining material will be delivered by the end of the year.
Together with the general public, we remind ourselves that the war in Ukraine is still on and that we must not be indifferent. On February 24, 2024, together with the organizations People in Need, Million Moments for democracy and the European Congress of Ukrainians we organized a rally for the 2nd anniversary of the war. The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, also spoke at the Old Town Square.

On the evening of August 20, 2024, together with the NGO´s mentioned above, we organized a commemorative event called "Go home, Ivan" in Boris Němcov's park. We remembered the time when we, Czechia, faced Soviet aggression too.
