Support Yury and his idea to create an election calculator designed for Czech citizens with a migration background who want to better navigate the 2025 elections. Help BRIDGE CULTURES
“I deeply love the Czech Republic—it’s become my home, where I’ve found freedom, friends, and a sense of belonging after leaving Belarus 12 years ago. Now, I want to contribute to society. For elections in Czechia in 2025 we are creating a dedicated platform with a "voting calculator," a tool designed to match new citizens´ priorities with party platforms. By highlighting where parties stand on topics relevant to specific migrant communities, we hope to empower informed decision-making and diminish the appeal of populism.”
I love the Czech Republic—it’s become my home, where I’ve found freedom, friends, and a sense of belonging after leaving Belarus 12 years ago. Now, I want to give back to this country and its society.
I’m participating in a training program for community organizers and started this campaign to support it. The program equips people with migrant backgrounds with skills to launch integration initiatives. You can learn more about it on the main page.
My project focuses on boosting political participation and combating populism. Like many Western nations, the Czech Republic faces rising populism—simplistic solutions to complex problems that threaten freedom and democracy. This deeply concerns me, and I’ve been searching for ways to contribute.
As a person with migrant background myself, I may not be best suited to advise native Czechs on politics, but there’s a growing group of new citizens—those who gained Czech citizenship in the past decade. Many aren’t fully engaged in politics, feeling disconnected, unconfident, or unclear about how their concerns align with political platforms.
My goal is to help new citizens navigate Czech politics: how voting works, what parties stand for, and how these align with their priorities. With colleagues, we’re creating a platform featuring a "voting calculator" to match new citizens’ priorities with party platforms. By showing where parties stand on issues relevant to migrant communities, we aim to empower informed decisions and reduce populism’s appeal.
This campaign will provide the skills and resources needed to bring this project to life. Together, we can make the Czech Republic a more inclusive, informed, and resilient society. Please donate—every contribution helps!
Thank you!

👉How Your Support Will Help:
Thanks to your support Rita, Suzanne, Raquel, Yury, Leslie, Mia and others with migrant backgrounds will receive targeted training in areas such as organizing community events, community mapping, communication, leadership, and fundraising. These skills will help them to break down barriers between different communities, lead mini-projects funded by this campaign, and energize their communities.
😍 PLUS, if we manage to raise 50 000 Kč, the OSF Foundation will match this amount with an additional 50 000 Kč, allowing us to bring the entire project to life!
"I would like to create welcoming space for young mothers of diverse backgrounds, especially Ukrainian refugees, to come together, learn Czech, and gain skills needed for the Czech job market. With activities tailored for both mothers and children, the program will empower women to build connections and pursue sustainable careers in their new home."
💪This project addresses the low level of civic engagement among residents with a migration background, who make up a quarter of Prague's population. Since most of these residents lack voting rights, their perspectives, voices, and needs remain underrepresented at the political level. Civic engagement thus becomes one of the few ways for individuals and groups to actively contribute to shaping public opinion and influence social issues that affect all city residents.
👀 As part of the crowdfunding campaign several participants created their own challenges – individual undraising campaigns. This helps us in raising donations. Any donation made to their campaign will be automatically credited to this MigAct campaign.
